Overview

Whilst attending the Scottish Grand National event in Ayr, representatives from York Racecourse saw the successfully completed Double Conic structure recently installed there and were inspired to contact Fabric Architecture to see what could be done for their own winner's podium.
 
The presentation platform was already in place at the venue and Fabric Architecture worked in close consultation with the racecourse to ensure careful co-ordination between the existing structure and the new canopy.  Design guidance and presentation of the options available led to a solution, taken from the range of pre-designed Signature Structures, that looks and feels fully integrated rather than a late addition.

The chosen Double Conic structure also has a dramatic impact - the beautifully organic curvature in contrast to the flat glazed option originally being considered.
