Overview

Fabric Architecture were contacted directly by Sheffield County Council with a view to creating a connection between two buildings at the Yewlands City Learning Centre.  Other requirements included lighting and a structure that was going to be tall enough to oversail the low level buildings.

With the brief in mind, a few suggestions were made from our Signature Structure range of pre-designed and pre-engineered structures.  Our client selected an 8m Inverse Conic that was modified to increase the mast length ensuring the height requirement was covered as well as the addition of two lighting units.

The steel frame was galvanized with a powder-coated topcoat, finished in pure white.  The superior Solar Glass Weave fabric was chosen for the canopy, again in white.  This striking structure that comes complete with it’s own integral drainage system was completed in July 2009, a full year after the initial consultation.
