Stafford School, Eastbourne, UK
Overview
With a growing number of students, the school were keen to utilise every spare area for specific activities. Students at Staffordshire Junior naturally gravitated to this courtyard at the start of the school day, so the natural progression was to provide shelters in the same space. Given the narrow space and a maze of underground pipes and drains, the Iron Mountain, with its centrally positioned legs, was the ideal solution. By switching the normal orientation of these structures, we created a walkway with individual and freestanding units.
