Overview

Following initial contact by John Hill Associates in March 2009, several of Fabric Architecture’s Signature Structures were being considered to provide cover for a play area at Sacred Heart School.  Discussions quickly moved on to include cover running along the school building to protect students and teachers when outside.

Two structures from the Signature range were selected; the Halo 6m x 6m and the modular Hull Walkway was extended to 20m.  Following various discussions with contractors O&P Construction and subsequent changes to the Hull Walkway’s leg positioning, height and engineering, ensuring the structure did not obstruct doorways and that the canopy oversailed the building helping with rainwater management, installation was completed during September.

The white steel framework and dark blue PVC fabric selected for both structures ties in beautifully with the blue and white facia of the school building.  The structures not only provide the practical element to the school’s requirements but also add a modern and colourful dimension to the playground.
