Island Spray Park, Mount Pleasant, MI, USA
Overview
Fabric Architecture’s recent agreement with PorterCorp of Holland Michigan, to manufacture and distribute tensile fabric structures, has seen a double first: the fabric structure at Island Park is the first of the Signature Structure range to be installed through PorterCorp’s network of representatives and the first Pagoda Diamond ever to be installed in the USA.
Miracle Recreation of Michigan have recently been introduced to this new range of Signature Structure products and immediately saw the potential of the modular design in the spray park scheme. Once a colour scheme for the fabric and framework were agreed, the masts were produced at PorterCorp fabrication plant in Holland, MI and canopies and aluminium supplied by Fabric Architecture in the UK.
The Pagoda Diamond is made up of 6 aluminium frames, each of which are unfurled during installation to form a series of rigid yet organic forms, sympathetic to the flower shaped water fountains of the spray park. This system makes for easy access to site with the main components of the structure, eliminating the need for heavy lifting equipment during installation.
“The design for the spray park features three separate pad areas… with a large, blue star-shaped sun shade that is quite functional and unique” Morning Sun, Michigan
